Countertop Pros & Cons

Our company will help you decide which material is best for you. Each stone and material has their benefits. We will educate you properly.
Natural Stones are Unique, and no two pieces of stone are exactly the same, which means your slab will truly be one-of-a-kind.

Granite

Granite is a tough material! Weighing in about 19lbs per square foot and 3CM thickness.  Granite is porous but can be sealed periodically to help prevent stains. Granite can stand up to heat quite well. Some granites will hold up in outdoor applications as well. Granite is offered in a variety of levels. Level 1 basic patterns are the least expensive of materials.

PRO: Tough material, stain-resistant, natural stone.

CON: Maintenance requires periodic resealing of the countertop.

Marble

If you are all about the elegance, marble might be for you! However, it is softer than granite and quartzite. In high use areas you will find it eventually shows scratches, etching and even staining. This doesn't stop everyone! It is beautiful after all!

PRO: Luxurious material, natural stone.

CON: Can stain easy, not recommended for heavy use.

Quartzite

The unique, stunning patterns will attract you for sure! Extremely dense material due to the high heat it was exposed to. Less likely to scratch. Typically does not need sealer and does well with heat. We will consult with you depending on the slab you select.

PRO: UV resistant, Very durable, natural stone.

CON: High cost, very heavy, prone to scratches.

Dolmonite

Another attractive stone. Slightly harder than marble but softer than Granite and therefore can scratch. Dolomite will generally hold up better than Marble in a countertop setting but is still susceptible to etching.

PRO: Cost effective, heat resistant, durable, natural stone.

CON: Can be prone to etching & staining, limited styles to choose from.

Soapstone

A bakers dream stone! Can be used indoors or outdoors. Excellent with heat! All soapstone is dark grey (some dark green) and will darken in time. It is considered high maintenance because you need to keep it oiled. It also scratches easily. Those who want soapstone accept the "look" as it transforms during use and time..

PRO: Non-porous, heat resistant, stain resistant, natural stone.

CON: High cost, limited color options.

Quartz (man made)

Man Made Quartz is typically 93% NATURAL quartz with 7% resin. This resin mixed into the ground quartz make this material nearly non porous! Leave cooking oil on this material for days and it will still wipe off with a cloth! Less to worry about after investing money into your new countertops. With hundreds of colors to choose from, you will find anything from ultra modern to rustic. Uniformed or unique veins.

PRO: Low maintenance, durable, consistent look.

CON: High cost, vulnerability to heat.
